Edward Louis Avers
Age 69 passed away at his home on November 4, 2010 with his family by his side after a long, hard fought illness. He was born in Pearl Beach, MI. July 18, 1941,son of Donald J. and Erma (nee Martin) Avers. He married Mary Jane Morton, May 19, 1962 in Algonac, MI. He was a graduate of Algonac High School. He served with the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from GM Pontiac after 30 years and worked at the DNR St. Clair Flats Wildlife Area on Harsens Island following retirement. He loved woodworking, gardening, hunting, fishing, his cabin on the lake in the UP but his passion was deer hunting. He dearly loved being with his family and grandchildren.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary, children Donald (Barbara) Avers of Bath, MI., and Michelle (Craig) Gormley of Attica, MI., grandchildren, Matthew, Shannon, Jack Avers and Marybeth and Jenna Gormley, sisters Pauline (Robert) Zeigler of Algonac, and Nancy (Gary) Seibert of Avoca, MI., in-laws, Gloria McKeown, Nancy Johnson, Rose Hart, Charley (Diane) Harrington, Wayne (Tammy) Harrington of Algonac, Beverly Buckman, of Warren, MI., Howard (Nancy) Morton, of Port Huron, MI., and Lynn (Betty) Morton of Capac, MI., and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, ason Patrick Louis Avers, sisters Mary Loue Minnich and Betty Bates, in-laws Clyde and Betty Harrington, Howard and Winnifred Morton.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 13, 2010 in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Algonac. Visitation 1-4 & 6-9 PM Friday November 12, 2010 in the Gilbert Funeral Home, Algonac. Memorial donations may be made to donations may be made to the Family Wishes.
