Millard Aaron Avers, Jr.,
of Cottrellville Twp, went home peacefully to be with the lord on Friday July 17, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 20, 1933, to the late Millard Sr. and Gertrude Brower Avers.
He served with the U.S. 7th Army 9th Armor 826 Tank BN stationed in Hamelburg, Germany for 18 months. Millard retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 41 years and worked for the Michigan Department of Natural Resources at Algonac State Park upon retirement.
Millard enjoyed the great outdoors, traveling and photography. He also greatly loved being with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marion; son Randal (Robin) Avers and daughter Sandra Sturdevan; grandchildren Brian Sturdevan, Derek Sturdevan, Robert Avers, and Rachel (Steve) Gabriau; great-grandchildren Cameron Sturdevan and Mason Gabriau; honorary son Michael (Kristin, daughter Ainsley) Colman; sister Sally Kade; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother John Avers.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 21 at 11:30 a.m. at Algonac Trinity United Methodist Church in the chapel. Visitation prior to the funeral beginning at 9:30 a.m.
